If you are publishing before your domain is pointing and migrated to our domain servers or if you don't need FrontPage and just want to transferee your web from your hard drive to the site use these instructions.

How To Publish Using FrontPage 2002 HTTP Mode

When your FrontPage web is ready to be published on the World Wide Web you can transfer the files by using FrontPage HTTP Mode. Here are the steps to follow:

If your domain is not transferred to our name servers you cannot use this method. You will have to use the FTP method for publishing  using FrontPage until your domain is pointing to our name servers.

Close all open pages in the FrontPage Editor.

Go to File - Publish Web you will see the following: Please note that if you have used FrontPage already to publish other webs you might not see this at first. If you see a screen with a login and password just click on Cancel to get to this screen.

Type what we have shown above substituting your own domain name for yourdomain.com ie: http://www.creativerecords.com.

When you click on OK you will see the following screen:

Enter your username and password that we gave you when setting up your account. When you click on OK you will see something like the following screen. Please notice that you do not have to change directories like you do using FrontPage for FTP.

Click on Options and set them as shown below:

Click on OK and you will see the following screen again:

Click on the Publish button on the lower right hand side of the screen and you will see the following screen pop up: Depending on how many files and how quick your connection this can take from a few seconds to quite a few minutes. You'll see files being transferred up and a scroll bar showing the status.

When the publishing is complete you will see a completion screen as shown below.

How To Publish Using CuteFTP

Cute FTP was created by GlobalSCAPE http://www.cuteftp.com/cuteftp the program is inexpensive and they also give you a free 30 day trial. There are other FTP programs on the web as shareware and even some freeware. The instructions are basically the same. We've chosen to show you with CuteFTP because we think it is a great program.

When you first enter CuteFTP you will be prompted to use the wizard. We suggest you do. When you get the following window choose a name that will help you to remember the name of your web. It could be the actual web address as well. This field is only a label and does not affect the program.

After you've typed in the name click on Next. You will get a screen similar to the one below. If you have not had your domain transferred you will put the name as shown below and click on Next:

If your domain name has not been transferred use the following instead of your domain name.  ns.nocex5.net. When you click on next you will see the screen below. Enter your username and password into this space: If your domain name has not been transfered as of yet you will have to put your username with your domain name as well so it will be username@domainname.com or .net, .biz etc.

This is not a tutorial for CuteFTP so for now we are just going to leave the above screen blank and click on Next. You will then see the window below. You can leave it blank for now.

When you click on next you will see the following screen showing you that you are finished setting up CuteFTP. You can leave the check mark in the "Connect to this site automatically" checked.

When you click on next you will see the following screen with a lot of information in the top of the window moving until you are finally logged onto your site.

Please notice that you are in the root of your web. Your web site actually resides in the directory mainwebsite_html directory (circled in red). Double click on mainwebsite_html directory and your screen will change as follows:

There are a lot of bells and whistles in CuteFTP but we are going to do this the primitive way. Just highlight any files and/or directories that you want to upload to your site as shown below:

Then take your mouse and drag and drop these files onto the directory mainwebsite_html . Be sure you do not drag them onto any subdirectories. Your files will go into the wrong place. Make sure you drag them onto a blank spot or onto one of the files. Once you drag them you will see the following message.

Click yes verification that asks you to confirm the upload.

If there is a file that exists on the site already CuteFTP will let you know that that file exists (see above) and asks you if you want to overwrite it. Be careful, you can easily overwrite a file that you want. See the CuteFTP documentation for instructions on how to rename files so there is a backup of them before you overwrite them.

Once the upload is compete you will see all of the files that you transferred to your web site. At this time you can quit CuteFTP and go and view your work in a browser.
