1. What is a Domain name?

Your domain name (your-DomainName.com) directs visitors to your home page on the Internet. It can also be used as part of your e-mail address. For example: sales@your-DomainName.com.

Domain names are the familiar, easy to remember names for computers on the Internet (such as www.creativerecords..com) when you run a domain name search. No two parties can hold the same domain name simultaneously, yours is completely unique. They correspond to a series of numbers called Internet Protocol numbers (IP numbers) that serve as routing addresses on the Internet. Domain names are used generally as a convenient way of locating information and reaching others on the Internet.

2. Do I have to buy a domain name?

Yes, there are registrars that sell domain names to you. Creative Records, Inc. is a domain name registrar click here to register a domain with us. And, though we do sell domain names, you do not have to purchase from us. We honor any domain name that is with an authorized registrar.

 
3. What does it cost to register a Domain Name?

You can pay as low as $8.95 for the year per domain name, up to exorbitant prices of $35.00 per year. Don't be fooled. Go to a reputable place such as Creative Records Domain Registration or other reputable companies. You get the exact service paying $8.95 from us and others as you get when paying $35.00. All you get for the extra money you pay is less cash in your pocket.

4. What are valid characters for a web domain name and how long can it be?

Valid characters include letters, numbers, and hyphens. A hyphen may not begin or end a domain name. Spaces and special characters are not permitted in a domain name.
For example:

CR-eativeRecords.com (valid)
-CreativeRecords.com (not valid)
Creat&%iveRecords.com (not valid)

5. What does it mean to "register" a domain name?

The Internet Domain Name System (DNS) consists of a directory, organized hierarchically, of all the domain names and their corresponding computers registered to particular companies and persons using the Internet. When you register a domain name, it will be associated with the computer on the Internet you designate (DNS information) during the period the registration is in effect. You will entering in our DNS server names when your registrar asks where is your DNS. Ours are as follows:

6.  I already have a domain name what do I do Now?

Not much except for putting in our DNS information as shown above. Please note that it can take up to 48 hours for a domain name to propagate throughout the World Wide Web.

7. What do .COM .NET and .ORG domain names signify?

Anyone may register the .Com, .Net, and .Org extensions. They are generic Top Level Domains (gTLD's) which are open to public registration. The best way to brand your on-line identity is to register your web domain name in all three .Com, .Net and .Org. All domains are available for registration by Internet users across the globe.

8. Do I receive an e-mail address with my domain name?

You receive unlimited e-mail addresses at a Creative Records, Inc. Web hosting account. We don't nickel and dime you for everything that you will normally need. For as low as $2.50 per month you get all the email addresses you want.

9. Once I have registered a Domain Name how do I get my site onto the Internet?

Remember that once you have your domain name and  you sign up for Creative Records, Inc.  web hosting service you must point your domain name to our DNS servers.
